The Job
Reporting to the Software Manager, the BIOS Engineers will have responsibility for the following:-

    Development and debugging of BIOS and UEFI firmware for a range of latest generation hardware platforms
    Assisting our hardware design engineers in the bring-up and debugging of our new board products
    Working with our other software engineers to debug and develop our operating system Board Support Packages (BSPs)
    Development of new features to support our embedded platforms and built-in diagnostics
    Production technical support
    Backup to our customer support engineers

Qualifications
Candidates should be Engineering graduates, able to demonstrate practical post graduate experience, and must offer the following capabilities:-

    In depth knowledge and Hands-on development experience of system BIOS and UEFI .
    Extensive knowledge of PC BIOS internals, including APICs, SuperIO devices, keyboard controllers,     SATA and PATA storage devices, and USB controllers.
    Understanding of the allocation of resources to PCI, or PCIe devices, and to system busses in general
    Significant experience in system bring-up and board-level debugging. Must be comfortable with the use  of  ITP, American Arium, or other JTAG based debuggers

In addition, the candidate should be familiar with some or all of the following:-

The Job
Reporting to the Hardware Manager the Hardware Design Engineer will have responsibility for the following:-

·         Design and development of single board computer products from definition through to introduction to manufacturing hand off

Qualifications

Candidates should be engineering graduates, able to demonstrate practical post graduate experience of digital hardware design, and be familiar with some or all of the following:-

·         32/64 bit microprocessors, preferably Intel 80x86 architecture
·         High performance communications peripheral devices, e.g. Gigabit Ethernet or 10 Gigabit Ethernet
·         Complex programmable logic devices
·         High performance bus architectures e.g. PCI-Express, RapidIO, CompactPCI , µTCA or VME  architecture and rugged products is a plus
·         Good understanding of signal integrity issues & controlled impedance PCB design
·         High speed digital logic

3.Software Design Engineer

The Job
Reporting to the Software Manager, the software Design Engineer will have responsibility for the following:-

    Design and development of device driver software for many standard operating systems such as Linux, Windows or VxWorks etc
    Porting and testing of Operating Systems on new Software platforms
    Design and development of operating system based diagnostic and tool software
    Production technical support

 Qualifications

Candidates should be Engineering graduates, able to demonstrate practical post graduate experience, and be familiar with some or all of the following:-

    C or C++ programming, primarily for the Intel 80x86 family of microprocessors
    Embedded real-time software development
    Windows or Linux/Unix device drivers or system (kernel level) software
    Diagnostics, boot-loader or PC BIOS development
    VxWorks, QNX or other real-time operating systems
    Expertise in debugging in an embedded environment




4.Mechanical (Thermal) Design Engineer

The Job:
    Work closely with the electronics and board layout engineers at all the different stages of board development, for both rugged and more benign environments.
    Design and development of heat sink and front panel.

Qualifications:

Candidates should be Engineering graduates, able to demonstrate practical post graduate experience, and familiar with some or all of the following:

    Experience of designing thermal and mechanical solutions for electronic products in harsh environments
    Ability to design cost-effective and compact solutions which have excellent thermal transfer characteristics.

Desirable Skills / Experience:

    Experience with bus-based modular boards, products dissipating 60W or more, and BGA and fine pitch packaged electronic components.
    Familiarity with VPX, VME or CompactPCI bus systems would be beneficial.
    Practical experience of the thermal and mechanical issues involved in designing for rugged environments such as airborne or ground vehicle mounted equipment would be a significant advantage
    Familiarity with thermal analysis tools such as CF Design or similar is a must.
    Experience in mechanical design tools like SolidWorks or similar.
    Independent and a self-starter, able to plan and carry out your work with little supervision and with the ability to deliver effective results in short timescales
